Happy New Year! Here’s hoping that 2026 will be filled with blessings for you and your family. I’d like to give you a peek into what I’ve been writing for the past few months. Doing the research was exciting for me, and I think you’ll enjoy reading it!
The story of early aviation is filled with daring pilots, groundbreaking technology, and the thrill of exploring the skies. But sometimes, behind these historic moments, there are personal stories that bring history to life in unexpected ways. One such story is about a young woman named Marie, the oldest sister of my grandmother, Frances Dalton Winget. It is also about a soldier, one of the original eight members of the U.S. Army Signal Corps Aeronautical Division. This is the little group that formed the beginning of the U.S. Air Force.
Their romance, set against the backdrop of early aviation, is the heart of my new novel based on a 1913 article in a Lima, Ohio newspaper. Look for the book to be released soon. Its title: "The Paper Balloon."

Bringing History to Life Through Fiction
The new book takes the facts from the 1913 newspaper article and weaves them into a rich, emotional narrative. It captures the spirit of early aviation and the personal struggles of those who lived it.
The novel includes:
Detailed descriptions of the aircraft and flying conditions of the era.
The social and cultural context of the early 20th century.
The personal growth of the characters as they face danger and uncertainty.
Moments of tenderness and conflict that make the romance feel real and relatable.
By blending historical facts with storytelling, the book offers readers a window into a fascinating time and a heartfelt love story.
How Faith Played a Role in Their Journey
One of the most striking aspects of this romance is the role of faith. The couple believed their meeting and relationship were guided by the grace of God. This belief gave them strength during difficult times and helped them trust in a future together.
This spiritual dimension adds depth to their story and resonates with readers who value the power of faith in overcoming challenges.
This book is ideal for history buffs, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys a well-told romance.
There will be more information coming soon as we get closer to the publication date, which still depends on the editor. So stay tuned! I’ll keep you posted. And please share the news with your friends who like to read.
